About us

It was 1978, I was 8 years old.

Every evening, I used to wait my father coming back from work. Before dinner, I gathered with my grandfather in the kitchen garden, behind my home.

I was attracted by everything related to the kitchen garden: soil, colors, odors and vegetables, which were often food for insects.

My father and my grandfather used to apply the insect poison to keep the insects away, but, even if I was only a child, I disagreed with the use of non-natural substances and most of all with the use of poison on the vegetables that we all were going to eat.

At home we had an encyclopedia, “the medical encyclopedia”. Once, I was browsing it and I found that Digitalis purpurea was known to keep insects away fron fruits and vegetables

I convinced my father to buy me a sachet of Digitalis purpurea seeds and tha’s how I started my first “formulations”. I planted the seeds and waited for the plants to flourish; then I enjoyed creating some brews.
I applied my brew on every vegetable; in a short amount of time, insects stopped eating the vegetables. I was really proud.

I sprayed my “concoction” (that's what Dad and Grandpa called it) all over the vegetables. In no time the insects stopped eating them. I felt immense satisfaction.

That was my “eureka” moment, the second I realize I could improve the world using medical plants!

In 2002, at 33 years old, I thought it was the time to put into practice my passion for plans: I founded my first nutraceutical company.

I thought I could think to ingenious formulas, outsource them, and everybody would have asked for my products.

Unfortunately, I was a real disaster. I had so much rip-offs and I made so many mistake that I could write an entire book on them.

After that first experience, we decided to try again: we had no money, two daughters to rise and the lab was just a small room, in which we screwed the caps of the bottles by hand. It was me, my wife Valentina (who had another job at the time), by brother and my mother.

Often, we did not reach a real salary, but me and Valentina hold on and we did not commit any more of the past mistakes.

In 2013, “Aliveda Laboratories” was born. We finally had a 200-square-meter laboratory with new machinery and employees who were not family members.
It felt like a dream.

We were able to manage everything in house: from the products formulation to the production, from the labels printing to the cases, which we cut individually with a manual hollow punch, then we glue them, always by hand.

That was our initial company philosophy, to keep the costs low. Now, thinking about then, I fell it was impossible. Maybe we were clever, maybe lucky.
Meanwhile, the first small clients arrived.

Then, some of them became big clients and to keep up with them, we grew, always remembering from where we started.

Today, in 2021, we have more than 30 employees and 3000 sqm of manufacturing site and we deliver 10-12 pallets per day. If I think that at the beginning we were able to deliver only one pallet…

Some days ago, Federico, one of our first employee, looking at the rush in the manufacturing site, told me: “Do you remember when we started and it was just 7 or 8 of us? Look how many are we now!”.

As I reach the threshold of 50 years of age, I have never felt more optimistic and confident about the future. I would like to say that Aliveda is just getting started and is destined to become a global center of excellence and quality in nutraceuticals.

Much of the credit goes to all the people who in difficult times believed in and supported the birth of Aliveda. Our strength has been our determination, collaboration, formulaic flexibility and the dynamic, youthful spirit that has always distinguished us.
